Build Your Desire

Did you know that human beings have a deeply embedded desire to get better? You will feel good about your life, if you are improving. It’s called the “progress principle”. The progress principle states that small, incremental improvements lead to motivation, satisfaction, and happiness.

You have to actively search for ways to build your desire. What is the process for building your desire? Well it starts with building up a level of intensity. An Actionable Plan.

Try to find something, that will add value to your life - add value to your business. Is there a new skill you want to learn? A project you have been wanting to finish? Start creating a list and work on it every day.

Once you have your list, pick one thing to start with, then build up the level of intensity. Everyday you should ramp up your intensity a little be more with Actionable Steps.

Please keep in mind that you don't have to have all the answers before you start, it's about the journey.

So when you start your day, always begin with a specific goal in mind. Start by writing down what you want to accomplish in the next 24 hours.

Identify three things that you need to complete by the end of the day and make sure you accomplish them.

Keep in mind that it's about progress not perfection. Progress Is The Foundational Pillar To Happiness and Desire.

Get Hyped

Once you have identified your goals, it is important to get excited about them.

Getting “hyped” means to get yourself into a state of excitement and enthusiasm. It looks different for everyone, but it can be anything from listening to your favorite music, doing some jumping jacks or simply repeating positive affirmations.

Find what works for you and make a commitment to yourself to doing it every day.

You are Building Success Patterns.

This will help motivate you and keep you on track. Visualize success by imagining what it would feel like if you achieved that goal. It's important to get yourself in the right frame of mind before starting any task.

If you're feeling uninspired or lacking motivation, it is essential to “get hyped”.

It's about fanning the flames and creating momentum. This way you are lessening the opportunity for laziness to kick in.

Talk To Yourself

Now I'm not speaking of talking to yourself like some weirdo or something.....

Talking to yourself can be a powerful tool in achieving goals. It not only helps keep you motivated but also allows you to create positive affirmations and focus on what you want to accomplish.

Speak positively to yourself and think of the benefits that will come with achieving those objectives.

Tell Yourself Your Why?

Like the great Simon Sinek book said Start With Why? Now by telling Yourself your WHY everyday this become an Evolutionary Driver. It becomes a mental focus.

Tell yourself these phrase:

  • Tell yourself why you want this for you.
  • Why you want to build this ________________ for you!
  • I Want This Goal For ________________________ Reason!
  • The only way to break the relationship between (the problem you have) and (the result or success you desire) is through my ideas and the words I speak to myself here today.

So get to having great conversations with yourself.

Domino Your Day

Have you ever heard the word Entropy? Entropy is the lack of order and everything moves towards chaos. It's the measure of a system’s disorder.

So now when you look at your day, it's important to create an Entropy Breaker – something that will break the disordered cycle of random tasks that are not moving you closer to your goal.

The amazing Tim Ferris talks about the Domino Effect. Finding that thing that if I did this, it is going to make everything else fall down. That one Domino that moves everything else throughout your day.

Domino or Chain Your Tasks together so that each task builds on the other. Everyone has a different Domino - (Entropy Breaker). Your job is to figure out what that is.

For some it's meditation or prayer, a walk, exercising or yoga, having a cup of tea or coffee, listening to a podcast or motivational speaker. What ever it is, the results should be the same, and that is Pushing Your Energy Into The System and moving away from Entropy.

By creating structure and a daily routine, you are optimizing your day for energy and cognition in the best way possible.

So find that Domino and Push It Down!!

Watch For Burn-Out

Finally, make sure you watch out for burn-out. Productivity doesn't mean working yourself to the point of exhaustion and burn-out.

Burn-out is real and it's important to pay attention to your energy levels throughout the day.

Take breaks when needed, add in some downtime or movement into your schedule.

Burn-out can sometime come when you a being pathologically and not changing yourself. It's no longer about what it should be about. It becomes about the Like, Followers, Fans, Praise, External Validation ....etc.

What is should be about is Fulfillment, making an impact and a contribution. It's about garnering a set of skills that serve not only yourself but other people.

Skills Have Utility

If you have skills people can't stop you. Skill-sets shine through. Developing skills help alleviate Burn-Out.

Kobe Bryant use to say that "Boo's Don't Block Dunks". In other words no matter what, noone can stop skills. Not even Boo's from the Crowd.

So developing skills is a must for Solopreneurs, whether it be digital marketing, web design, writing or even drawing - having skills gives you an edge.
